What is this blog?

Hey there,

Thanks for stopping by. You might know me from my other blog, Mastering The Method or perhaps my indie film Empire of Dirt , but really I'm just a girl who's gotta write and I wanted to create a space where I'd be free to scribble away about what occupies my thoughts.

As I am a constant work in progress, that could be anything from what I'm doing for a workout, to what I'm eating (including super idiot-proof recipes), great books I've read or new goals or challenges I may be tackling. Mostly though I'm just figuring shit out as I go along. In other words, much of what you'll find here is kinda like a conversation I'm having with my best girlfriends.

Fair warning though -- I'm a huge fan of the run-on sentence and reserve the right to waffle, whinge, moan, meander, and crack myself up (and hopefully you too), as we ponder the many faces of our blossoming beautiful womanhood in all our incarnations.

Additionally - because I'm a nerdy list-maker and I'm constantly striving for self-improvement, I do have a few rules that I use to guide me through my midlife.

I call them the Shamandments and they are as follows...

1 - Be Shannon
2 - Do no harm
3 - Find a reason every day to believe in myself
4 - Feed the hunger in my belly, rather than in my head.
5 - Act the way I want to feel

6 - No being a hateful meanie to myself (or others)
7 - Do my best and forget the rest
8 - Make it my own. Whether it's my workout, my diet, my look or my life, personalize it to suit me and then I can own it
9 - Let love be the boss of me rather than fear
10 - Set achievable goals; it's the first step to self-improvement.
11 - Remain humble no matter what your achievements, simple living leads to higher thinking.

I'd love to hear what kinds of commandments you've created for yourself, what things that have moved your spirit, rocked your body, tickled your funny bone, or broken your heart.

So I hope you'll drop in from time to time, grab a coffee, catch up and gimme your two cents on this crazy road called life.

With love and respect,
Shan
